Meet our teachers!



Pamela Chavez

Pam grew up in Loveland, Colorado. She has a Master’s Degree in Bilingual Elementary Education from the University of Colorado, and loves CU! Pam has taught pre-school, and kindergarten, and loves teaching preschool at Pioneer and working with the children and families in her program. Pam's children attend Pioneer as well, and her oldest child graduated from pre-k-5 at Pioneer and is now in middle school. She feels very fortunate to live and work in this community and for her children to have the opportunity to receive a dual language education.

In her free time Pam loves to hike, read, and ski, with her 3 children and her husband.

Isabelle Smith

Isabelle earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin in Early Childhood Special Education, a Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Colorado Denver and a Masters Degree in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education from CU.   She has worked at EBP since 1997 and has been a preschool teacher here since 2006. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs and is thrilled to be working with preschoolers!

Maria Elena Klitchman

Maria Elena is the para-educator in Isabelle’s classroom. She has taken many Early Childhood education courses and is Group Leader Qualified. She is from Paraguay and has been working at Pioneer since 1990! She is continuing her education and enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She enjoys traveling and reading.

Mireida Escarcega

Mireida was born in Mexico and has lived in the United States and worked at Pioneer in kindergarten and preschool for 10 years. In Mexico, she worked as a preschool teacher for 11 years. She studied Early Childhood Education and is Early Childhood Director Qualified.   In her free time she enjoys dancing and aerobic exercise. When the weather is nice, she also enjoys hiking in the beautiful Colorado mountains.

Beatriz Pestana-Osuna

Beatriz is our speech and language therapist. She comes from Venezuela and received her Masters Degree from CU Boulder and has been working as a bilingual speech and language therapist for 17 years (12 with Boulder Valley). She is nationally licensed and ASHA certified. Beatriz is also an artist and print maker. She works in our classrooms two times each week.

Jennifer Leonesio

Jennifer is the occupational therapist in our preschool. She earned her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University and has been with Boulder Valley School District for 9 years.   She works in the classrooms once per week and runs Motor Lab once each month. She enjoys spending time with her two children and loves being in pre-school!.
