Meet our teachers!

  

Marta Quezada Arguello

Marta was born and raised in Chico, California.  She came to Colorado to go to school at CU Boulder, and got a degree in Business Administration and Spanish.  Marta has a master’s degree in Elementary Education.  Marta is very passionate about teaching at Escuela Bilingüe Pioneer and has taught here for more than 10 years.

In her free time, Marta enjoys hiking, reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with her husband, Damian, and one year old baby Mateo.  She has one furry friend named Panda that prefers Grandma's house and loves chasing squirrels.

David Smith

David Smith was born in Elmhurst, Illinois and moved to Boulder, Colorado when he was five. 

He has earned a BA in Spanish Language and Literature and a MA in Multicultural and Bilingual Education from the University of Colorado, as well as traveling and studying throughout Mexico and Spain to become bilingual. 

David lives near Pioneer in Lafayette with his wife, Amy, and two dogs, Georgia and Jorge.  He has worked 16 years as a bilingual educator, including ten years here at Pioneer in a variety of positions, and is now enjoying life as a third grade classroom teacher.  His hobbies include traveling, reading, walking with his dogs on local trails, CU football and relaxing on the beach with Amy in Akumal, Mexico.
 

Stephanie Duncan

Stephanie grew up in Colorado.  She has a B.A. in International Spanish for the Professions from CU.  While in college, she had the opportunity to study abroad in Sevilla, Spain.  She became passionate about bilingual education while working at Pioneer with Americorps in 2002.  She went back to CU and got her teaching license and Masters in Elementary Education.  She continues to take courses and will have her endorsements from CDE in Bilingual and Linguistically Diverse Education by the end of this year.

 

Alberto Gaspar Jiménez

Alberto teaches one of the Spanish environment classrooms in third grade.  Alberto was born and raised in Spain, and has lived in the United States since 1996.  He has a degree in Elementary Education with a major in Spanish from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Multicultural and Bilingual Education.

Alberto is married and has two children that attend Escuela Bilingüe Pioneer.  He enjoys going back to Spain every year to visit his family and expose his kids to the language and cultural experiences of his home.  One of Alberto's favorite hobbies is to play and watch soccer.
