1st Grade Teacher Biographies

Shannon Gamble
Shannon Gamble has been teaching since 2005 and part of the Sanchez staff since 2008. A native of Peoria, Illinois, she moved to Colorado in 1998 to attend the University of Colorado. After graduating with a BA in English Literature, she spent time as an AmeriCorps volunteer in BVSD. During this experience, she discovered a passion for education and returned to CU earn a MA Elementary Education.
Outside of work, Shannon is usually spending time with her husband, Jon, and dog, Homer. Together they enjoy biking, hiking, camping, cooking, traveling and discovering new places.

Nicole Calderbank
Aloha! My name is Nicole Calderbank and I love teaching first grade at Sanchez. I have fun hiking and camping with my family, crafting, sewing, cooking and eating. My family is originally from Hawai'i, but I was raised in the Sunshine State(Ft. Lauderdale, Florida). Our family includes me, my husband, Paul, our son, Triston, our daughter, Skye, and our sweet dog Lady.

Rita Kendrick
Rita Kendrick is enjoying her fourth year of teaching at Sanchez. She spent the first three years as a literacy specialist. She also taught first and third grade in Wheat Ridge, Colorado before taking time off to spend with her three daughters. In 1990, Rita graduated with a degree in Psychology. She had met her husband in college, and moved with him to San Diego, where she earned her teaching credential at San Diego State University. She and her growing family moved between Colorado and California Before finally settling down in Louisville nine years ago. Rita just completed her MA in Education, with an emphasis in reading, from Regis University. In her free time she is a girl scout leader, and teaches religious education at her church. Rita especially enjoys spending time with her husband and their three daughters. camping, hiking, skiing, and gardening are some of her favorite activities. Being a Colorado native, she is lucky to have many family members nearby, and sees them often.
