Alicia Sanchez Administration

Doris Candelarie, Principal

Doris has been at the helm of Alicia Sanchez International since 2007.  She has over 25 years of experience in education at all levels including: operating her own daycare center, elementary teacher, middle school teacher, middle school dean and principal, and Executive Director of Schools.  After three years in the school district central office, she found she missed working at the school level with the students and teachers.  She looked for a community neighborhood school and found her way to Sanchez where she plans to stay for a while.

Doris has a BA in Elementary Education with emphasis on Bicultural Education from the University of Northern Colorado. She holds a MA in Education: Teaching and Learning from Regis University, and is a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Policy from the University of Denver.

She is also a recent grandmother to Lily and Lucas, which has put a whole new level of fun in her life.

Doris spends her free time reading... she has piles of books everywhere in her house. When she gets outside, she enjoys hiking, running, and biking with her husband. She also enjoys exploring her creative side through cooking or mountain gardening. They currently live in the foothills outside of Boulder. Something you may not know about Doris - she enjoys all kinds of music and thinks that i-Tunes is the greatest invention ever! She has hundreds of very interesting playlists for every musical taste.
