Pat Kayser -Physical Education

Pat has a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and also in Therapeutic Recreation. She LOVES teaching the students at Alicia Sanchez because they are kind to each other and very appreciative of the special activities offered at the school. Pat's teaching emphasizes fun and fitness for all students, along with making many connections to the district health and science curriculums. Pat skis, snowboards and hikes with her family and friends during her spare time. She also competes in ballroom dance.

Denise Clements -Spanish

I graduated from CU Boulder with a degree in International Affairs and a focus on Women's Studies. As far as teaching, I love sharing what I know with students and seeing them engage with the material and make connections to their lives. My husband Shane and I have two children. Our son is in middle school and our daughter is in elementary. Recently, we have enjoyed taking mini trips in Colorado to hot springs. We have been to hot springs in every season and absolutely love the long lazy days where everyone is entertained, regardless of the weather! I also enjoy hiking, learning languages, and traveling.

Kim Zurliene- Music

Kim Zurliene is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a Bachelor's degree in Music with an emphasis in Education. She is currently working on her Masters degree in Music at Colorado State University with and emphasis in the Kodaly Method.

Kim focuses her teaching on in-tune singing and music literacy (reading and writing music) thought the use of children singing games and folk music. She also incorporates listening, movement and instrument playing in every lesson. Kimberly strongly believes that every child is capable of making music and that music is an important part in developing a well-rounded child.

Kim started her teaching career at Sanchez Elementary six years ago as a first year teacher and couldn’t imagine teaching anywhere else. "I love seeing the students grow year after year and their enthusiasm about learning music is contagious." Kimberly looks forward to many more years of teaching at Alicia Sanchez Elementary.

Kim and her husband Brian, make their home in Erie. They have two boys that keep them busy and happy.

Allison Paul- Art

I received a B.A. from Earlham College in Richmond, IN and a M.A. in Art Education from Florida State University.

I love facilitating a learning process that connects students to the world around them through a study of sense of self, sense of place, and sense of community. I believe that students can  engage in important social change in the world as they learn and grow, becoming educated well-rounded members of society. Sanchez provides a passionate group of teachers as facilitators for this learning process, and it is great to be a part of such an inspiring team!

I recently moved to Colorado with my husband and love living in this sunny state so close to the Rocky Mountains. I look forward to exploring many of the beautiful parks and natural settings that the West has to offer!

I enjoy getting outdoors to hike, bike, and swim as well as gardening, cooking, and canning. I enjoy reading and creating art, particularly ceramics, and getting to know other artists' work. I am passionate about the power of the arts to build community and support social justice.

Roger Torres -Technology

Hi! My degree is in Spanish and Math from the University of Texas, and my Masters work is in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Colorado in Denver. My favorite subjects are science and math and I hope that translates to the kids I teach. I have taught every grade level from k-5 and taught as a bilingual teacher as well. I have my endorsement in Bilingual Methodology as well as hours in pure sciences and computer.

I have been in Boulder Valley since 1990 and at Sanchez Elementary since it became a k-5 school. I do have two children of my own that keep me busy, and in my spare time I rock climb, run and play racquetball.
