Healthy Schools Champion

Southern Hills awarded as a 2012 Colorado Healthy Schools Champion!  Southern Hills is one of 2 middle schools throughout Colorado to be recognized as a healthy school. Champion schools completed an online Score Card that identified how they are ensuring that the connection between health and learning is present and thriving using a coordinated approach to health and wellness. Way to go SHMS!

Colorado Math League Contest

Wow! Congratulations!  The results from the Colorado Math League Contest are in…In 6th grade, Southern Hills came in 4th in state and first in our region. In 7th grade, we were 2nd in the state, 1st in our region.  In 8th grade, we were 3rd in state, 1st in our region.  Our students placed very well! Way to go!

John Irwin Award Winner

Congratulations to the SHMS Staff...Winners of the 2011 John Irwin Award!

John Irwin Award Description:

The 2011 John Irwin awards are awarded to schools that “exceed” expectations on the 3-year school performance framework’s indicator related to academic achievement and that “meet or exceed” expectations on the indicator related to academic growth gaps.  These schools demonstrate the highest levels of achievement not just for some students but also adequate performance across all student groups.
