4th Grade spent the day in a "one-room school house" as they experienced the life and times of children in the 1860s. This eye-opening day was fun for everyone and kids begged for the day to not end!
Each class wore a different color of the rainbow to show school spirit!
Sheila, a 3rd grader at SES, had her bookmark selected as the winner in the 3rd & 4th grades category for the Tattered Cover's 27th Annual Children's Bookmark Contest. Her bookmark will be printed in full color and handed out at all four Tattered Cover locations this August. Congratulations Sheila!

Here’s an opportunity to clean out the closet! Donate your used shoes to those in need of proper footwear. Look for the specially marked collection boxes in the SES entryway.
You may be interested to know the journey taken by your used shoes: after being sorted and packaged by Eco-Cycle, they are shipped through a broker all over the world. Many shoes go to developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
The collection is courtesy of Eco-Cycle and its CHaRM operation that processes all kinds of hard-to-recycle items such as computers, junked bicycles, block styrofoam, even used cooking oil. To learn more about the Used Shoe Collection and hard-to-recycle items, please visit ecocycle.org or call Eco-Cycle at 303-444-6634.
Our school is participating in a grant project to bring cycling education to PE classes over the next two years. The hope is that by participating in BLAST (4-5th grades) and Bikeology (6-7th grades), as the courses are known, children will be prepared and inspired to bike to school. More cycling often means active children, fewer cars and safer streets around school.
The grant project through the Colorado Safe Routes to School Program requires that we conduct a Parent Survey at the beginning and end of the activities to show changes in the transportation chosen by students to get to and from school. By completing the survey, which takes about five to ten minutes, you’re showing your support of cycling education. Many thanks in advance for making time for this!
