Superior PTA Budget 2011-2012 The purpose of this memo is to give parents and staff a snapshot of the PTA Budget. In recent years, the PTA spent less than we raised, received a large donation, and built up a Òlong-term projectÓ fund. A large portion of that money was spent on the new playground equipment ($24,000) and garden ($7,500) last spring, as voted on by the PTA. Currently, there is approximately $10,000 remaining in the long-term project fund. The PTA will be working this year to determine the best use of those funds. The chart below is a summary of the income PTA raised last year and the budgeted expenses for 2011-2012. The largest PTA expense includes a $220 stipend per teacher to spend on classroom items, $6 per child toward grade level teaching teams, $400 per grade level for field trips, and $100-$500 stipends for specialists. In addition, the PTA has a ÒgrantÓ system where teachers submit proposals for funding of items that come up during the year. In the past, this has included items such as anti-bullying assemblies and in-class technology requests (from tape players to Smart Boards). The Staff Development item includes the cost to send teachers to seminars on topics such as ÒGetting Boys Interested in ReadingÓ and ÒAutism Issues in Education.Ó PTA Expenses2011-2012Fall Fling25,700$ Teacher/Specialist classroom items, Field Trips13,100$ Read-A-Thon6,500$ Grants (speakers, special programs, technology, etc.)8,000$ Capital Campaign 6,500$ Staff Development8,000$ Fall Scholastic Book Fair4,000$ Staff Planning/Peer Observation3,500$ Payback Coupon Book Sale2,500$ 5th Grade: Musical, Graduation, outdoor ed.
