I am delighted to say that I have been teaching at Superior Elementary since its opening year in 1996! Prior to teaching at Superior Elementary, I taught at Ryan Elementary and Creekside Elementary in Boulder Valley School District. In my teaching career, I have taught first, second, and third grades, and Title I reading. My favorite part of teaching is helping students learn how to read and watching them become absorbed in a particular book or series. I graduated with my Master’s degree in Literacy from the University of Colorado. In 2009, I received my National Board Certification in Early and Middle Childhood Literacy. I truly enjoy teaching at such a great school with motivated teachers, students, and families. This is an amazing place for kids to grow and learn!
I am a fourth generation Colorado native and proudly display Pioneer license plates on my car. I grew up in Golden, not too far from Superior! I have been married since 1993, and my family and I live in Louisville. My husband, Arlie, is a former scientist at NCAR and is now an Assistant Principal in Jefferson County. He completed his PhD in Education at Colorado State University in 2008. We have a son, Ethan, who loved being a student at Superior Elementary for the last six years. In 2009, our family adopted a Newfie mix dog named Zebulon Pike. In my free time (which mostly occurs in the summer), I love to hang out with my family, read, camp, run, garden, and cook! In the Summer of 2010, I ran my first half marathon.
