Kelly Marcus

I am a Colorado native, born in Grand Junction and raised in Louisville. I love the community in the Louisville/Superior area; I consider this my “home town”. However, I now live in Thornton with my husband, Aaron, and our wonderful daughter, Arabella. We also have two fun loving dogs, Lucia and Zeke.

At the age of sixteen, I began to work for an after-school program though the YMCA. I worked there for four years. In those four years I fell in love with teaching, I knew from that point on I wanted to be a teacher. I have been teaching third grade at Superior Elementary since 2004. I was a student teacher in third grade here at SES, then was able to continue here as a third grade teacher.

I am a huge Buffs fan because I received my BA at the University of Colorado with a major in Spanish and a minor in Ethnic Studies. I have also lived in Mexico and worked very close with many Spanish programs. At the same time, I received my Elementary Teaching license from CU. After completing my undergraduate studies, I continued my education and earned a masters degree in Elementary Education in 2006.

Outside of school I love to travel, hike, and spend time with family and friends. I enjoy taking my dogs swimming and watching Arabella splash too!

Third grade is such a great year. Not only do I get to see the students grow physically, but academically too. I love to teach independence, responsibility, and SCIENCE! In third grade we have to opportunity to study my favorite topic-human body.
