 Courses Offered

M31 Algebra 1
  • Course length: 2 quarters
  • Prerequisite: None
  • Credits: 10

Mathematics at the Algebra I level focuses on polynomial operations including absolute values, and exponents and the study of functions including linear and quadratic. Problem solving, representations, reasoning, communication, and connections within and outside of mathematics underline all of the teaching and learning at the Algebra I level.

M31 / M38 Algebra 1

  • Course length: 4 quarters
  • Prerequisite: None
  • Credits: 10 of Algebra, 10 of General Math

This class covers the same essential learning as in the Algebra 1 class described above. The main difference is that the material is covered at a lower pace, and some review of pre-Algebra concepts is introduced as needed in each credit.

M41 Geometry

  • Course length: 2 quarters
  • Prerequisite: Algebra 1
  • Credits: 10

Mathematics at the Geometry level focuses on geometric proofs, properties of circles and polygons, congruence, similarity, the Pythagorean theorem, and trigonometric ratios. Problem solving, representations, reasoning, communication, and connections within and outside of mathematics underline all of the teaching and learning at the Geometry level.

M51 Algebra 2

  • Course length: 2 quarters
  • Prerequisite: Geometry
  • Credits: 10

Mathematics at the Algebra II level focuses on operating on complex numbers and the study of function families including polynomial, rational, absolute value, radical, and exponential. Problem solving, representations, reasoning, communication, and connections within and outside of mathematics underline all of the teaching and learning at the Algebra II level.

M38 General Math

  • Course length: 1 or 2 quarters
  • Prerequisite: Teacher/Administration recommendation
  • Credits: 5 per quarter

This class offers extra support to those students taking Algebra 1. The class is based primarily on pre-teaching, practice, and re-teaching of concepts covered in the Algebra 1 class.
