Program Description

 
The IT TEC Department at Arapahoe Campus offers one year certifications in Computer Information Systems and Game Design/Software Production. Computer Information Systems is offered in the A.M. session only. The Game Design and Software Production class is only offered in the P.M. session.

The CIS class offers content that covers computer forensics, hardware essentials and repair, Web 2.0 tools, help desk concepts, and data recovery.

During first semester in Game Design and Software Production, students learn how to use Adobe Flash CS4 to write, make, and produce games. During the second semester, students learn how to use the Adobe CS4 Suite and integrate all programs included to produce a final website.

Enrichment is also offered to students with means of transportation.  In Enrichment, students will build a gaming server, build XBox Live games, and expand their knowledge into computer hardware.

 

 Courses Available

 

V61 Computer Information Systems (30 credits; 2 semesters)

Introduction to microcomputer applications, minor computer set ups and installations, the internet, and operating systems. T
raining also includes microcomputer applications and beginning programming and operating systems. Advanced coursework in computer set-ups, installations, troubleshooting, servers, imaging, hardware repair, networking, data recovery, and computer forensics (laws and processes). Coursework is provided through lecture, interactive online lessons, texts, videos and extensive hands-on applications.

V63 Web and Gaming Applications (30 credits; 2 semesters)

Game applications training in flash game design, Xbox game coding in XNA and C#, project management, and software. Students in this course learn the process of application development from writing a project document to testing the final product. There is also extensive Web Design instruction in Adobe Flash, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Adobe Fireworks.  Students will work towards developing an online portfolio/resume for post secondary and career success.  Coursework is provided through lecture, interactive online lessons, texts, videos and extensive hands-on applications.
