Arapahoe Campus High School
Options Academy
Purpose
The Options Academy provides a credit recovery program designed to address the needs of students who have fallen or are in jeopardy of falling behind in their credits required for graduation. The program provides an academic environment that meets the credit needs of individual students while adhering to the BVSD guaranteed viable curriculum.
History
By the end of the first year, 149 students had been enrolled in the credit recovery program, earning a total of 1658 credits. Forty-seven of these students were concurrently enrolled with their home high school, spending only part of their day on the Arapahoe Campus working on credit recovery.
In 2010-2011, 286 students were served and earned 3,151 credits.
- High school students from every high school in BVSD have been served in Options Academy.
Program Highlights
Low Student to Teacher Ratio
Individualized, self-paced curriculum with the goal of one credit recovered every five - nine days
Non-traditional instruction and assessment
Highly qualified instruction with weekly goal setting
Support for all required social studies, language arts, math and science classes

Students
Our most successful students are juniors and seniors with a firm personal commitment to graduation, attendance, working independently and needing a minimal level of SPED, ELL and ILP support
Most students in the credit retrieval program are students of ARHS. However, we concurrently enroll students from every BVSD high school who need a supervised credit recovery program in their daily schedule
Students from other high school may access the CTEC bus that services their school in order to access the Options Academy. If the CTEC bus is used, the student can access the AM session (7:55 – 10:20) or the PM session (12:15 – 2:40). (See 2011-2012 CTEC Bus Schedule for route times.)
