3rd Grade

I am looking forward to teaching third grade with Katie Konold and the fantastic third grade team. I grew up in Southern California and moved to Colorado Springs in high school. I graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies with an Emphasis in Early Childhood. My teaching courses were taken at Metro State College. I taught in Cherry Creek schools before we had our two daughters. After 13 years out of the classroom I was missing the daily work with children, and decided to go back to school to recertify. I have been teaching here at Aspen Creek for a year and a half.

When I am not here, I am with my family. My wonderful husband Mike and I have two daughters, Sarah and Abby, that have been at Aspen Creek for many years. We spend a lot of time on the soccer fields around Colorado watching both of our daughters play. I also enjoy reading, skiing with my family and knitting.

I am pleased to be at Aspen Creek for my fifth year with the third grade team! This will be my eighth year of teaching.  Before coming to Aspen Creek, I taught third grade for two years in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  I am so happy to begin my fifth year living in Boulder with my husband, Eddie and my daughter, Charley.  When I am not at school I can be found hanging out with my family, telemark skiing, hiking fourteeners, backpacking, gardening and reading-especially if it is a Harry Potter book! 

I was born in Casper, Wyoming but grew up in Boulder.  I am now living in Louisville with my husband, my daughter Kendall and my son Grant.  I have an undergraduate degree from University of California, Santa Cruz in Art History, and a teaching certificate and a Masters in literacy from CU Boulder. I am currently taking classes on teaching our gifted and talented students. I started teaching at Lafayette Elementary and am now in my 4^th year at Aspen Creek.  I have taught kindergarten and last year taught various grades including 3^rd grade. I am very excited to be joining the 3^rd grade team. 

My family and I spend as much time as we can outdoors backpacking, camping, skiing and hiking. Second only to being outside is eating out!  I am looking forward to my new venture here at Aspen Creek.

I was born in New York City and have lived in California and Oklahoma, but spent most of my time growing up in Springville, Utah.  I started my first year teaching in 2001, at a school just minutes away from my own childhood elementary.  I spent one year teaching fifth grade and the next three years in third.  I love teaching third graders!   

I moved with my husband, Jesse, to Broomfield in 2006 and have been teaching third grade at Aspen Creek ever since. This will be my 10th year of teaching.  I have loved every one of my classes here at Aspen Creek!  I also love going to concerts, finding amazing new restaurants, hanging out with my great teacher friends, relaxing with my minpin Lily, and reading.  Nothing makes me happier than curling up on a cold day with a good book.  I finished my Masters Degree in Reading in 2009 and love teaching reading and writing. 

I am thrilled to start this new year at Aspen Creek and look forward to another amazing school year.
