We had an AMAZING time in New York!  We left on Friday, May 4, 2012, and arrived in Times Square at 2:00pm.  What an experience coming into Times Square!  We had dinner at the Shake Shack, who generously donated our food (a huge shout out to both Alison Shetter for arranging, and the management of Shake Shack for agreeing!).  We gawked in Times Square for several hours, then a few of us went to see "Newsies" (nominated for 9 Tony Awards!) while others stayed in Times Square.  Later, we retired to The Belvedere Hotel, on 48th and 8th.

Saturday, we went to "Wicked:  Behind the Emerald Curtain" (a huge shout out to Shaun McCourt and Nathan Vernan for generously donating this event!), where we learned all about the backstage stuff that goes on at "Wicked."
That afternoon, we went to see "Once," the new musical nominated for 12 Tony Awards (yep, it's the most nominated musical of the year!).  After the show, we had a talk back with the cast, and we were invited onstage to take pictures with everyone (including Steve Kazee, nominated for a Tony for his performance).  A special thank you to Bess Glorioso, stage manager, for arranging the talk back--we LOVED it!  Next, we spent more time touring the city, and it was off to bed.
On Sunday, we walked up to Central Park, where we wandered around soaking in the sites for a few hours.  That night, we ate dinner at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, and then we saw "Wicked." It was an absolutely amazing experience!  After the show, we walked back into Times Square for our last night.  We had so much fun laughing and talking and just being together.

On Monday, We took the Staten Island Ferry to get a close-up look at the Statue of Liberty.  Finally, we ventured back into the subway for our trip back to LaGuardia Airport, where we boarded the plane and returned to Colorado, forever changed by the experience!  If you are interested, please check out the video of our experience at: https://docs.google.com/a/bvsd.org/file/d/0B_Auz00AwLY7aUtKeG1HTkphUkE/edit?pli=1

To everyone who helped us make this dream a reality, please know that words will never suffice to explain what you did for us!  We are in your debt and we will not ever forget how you helped us!
Sincerely,
Ms. J, Brianna, Cynthia, Erika, Edwin, Oscar, Mikey, Nia, and Robyn
