Welcome to the Instrumental Music Parents Association

We support all Boulder High instrumental music (band or orchestra) students. If you are the parent of an instrumental music student, you are already a member of IMPA. We support the award-winning BHS instrumental music program by fundraising to provide scholarships, instruments and equipment, and by staffing music concerts, events and tours. IMPA meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month in the BHS Band room. Learn more about IMPA.
 
Congratulations to all of the BHS Orchestra students for their great performances at the Colorado West Invitational Music Performance Tournament!  Special congratulations to our own A Piacere Strings (Orchestra 3) for winning OUTSTANDING STRING ORCHESTRA 5A!
 
A quote from Steve Carson, IMPA parent in attendance at the performance:
 
"A Piacere's performance was breathtaking. I wish every orchestra parent could have been there for a truly magical moment. After hearing several other orchestras in the 5A division on Friday morning, when A Piacere took the stage it was ASTOUNDING how much more "professional" they sounded than any of the others I heard! It was quite moving. After each performance, one of the judges would get up on stage and give the musicians and their director some feedback. Reportedly the judge who gave feedback to A Piacere said something like the following: "Do you know the difference between a musician and an artist? A musician is someone who can get all the notes right; an artist someone who can make you cry, or make your heart beat faster; YOU are ARTISTS!"
 
I could not agree more. Their performance, and the subsequent Outstanding 5A String Orchestra award, are truly the finest tributes I can think of to one of the most dedicated, talented, and just plain cool teachers anywhere, any time: Dr. Katharine Mason! Boy BHS, you don't know how lucky you are to have her!"
