How IMPA is Funded
IMPA’s work is supported by donations from parents, the community, students and others, and by fundraising events. The many ways that IMPA receives support are described below. For further information, please contact the IMPA chairperson, Cathy Faughnan at 303 718-1463 or email
Donations
Family contributions paid to IMPA are requested during school registration or click here for the contribution form. Funds are used to buy sheet music, to pay for sectional instruction and guest teachers, for repair and maintenance on school instruments, music teacher continuing education, transportation and participation fees for competitions, concert programs, and middle and elementary school outreach programs.
Instrument Drive - donation program in December. Funds are dedicated to purchasing new instruments for the music program.
Concert basket - donations are taken at the door during BHS concerts. Funds are dedicated to the IMPA scholarship fund.
Other - occasional donations received from individuals, groups, organizations. Funds are sometimes used for specific purposes; sometimes for the scholarship fund.
Fundraising Activities
Benefit Concert – Work with a team of parents to put on a benefit concert showcasing Boulder High Music. Organizational work begins in the Fall. Several volunteers are needed to organize a concert, possibly develop concert fundraisers such as silent auction, and organize refreshments.
Concessions - parents and students volunteer to staff concession stands at BHS home football and basketball games. Funds used for scholarships. This activity makes $3000-$6000 per year!
Grocery certificates - purchase grocery gift cards (for Safeway, King Soopers, Vitamin Cottage, Lucky’s Market). A percentage of sales are donated to IMPA for scholarships. Contact Renee Winklmann to sign up.
Wreath and Poinsetta sales - Student sellers with a percentage of profit going to the IMPA scholarship fund and a percentage to the student’s account.
Ad hoc fundraisers - Students sell items with a percentage of profits going to IMPA and a percentage to Student Accounts.
Scholarship Fund
The scholarship fund covers music lessons and participation in off-site music education events.
Student Accounts - During the school year, student have an opportunity to earn funds for their accounts (by fundraiser sales, working concessions, playing concerts for the community, etc). Student account money may be used for repairs or maintenance on a student-owned instrument, private lessons, and participation in any music education event including a school-sponsored trip or attendance at a concert.
