WRITING AWARDS
Four Casey students won a total of five awards in two writing contests sponsored by the Colorado Center for the Book, a program department of Colorado Humanities affiliated with the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. The “River of Words” and “Letters About Literature” contests are among their many student literary activities that promote reading and writing. Read more here.
SUMMER ART AND WRITING CAMP
Casey students are invited to participate in the summer art and writing camp "Tell Your Story" hosted by the University of Colorado, Boulder Valley School District and YOAB. The camp runs from July 16-20, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., in the CU Fine Arts building. The aim is to inspire students to express their personal stories through poetry, memoir, visual arts, and movement as we build an artistic community and explore the University of Colorado campus. Participants will work on visual arts projects such as 3D expressions in wood and paint, digital collage, and clay. They will be guided by fine arts graduate students. Students will journal and write guided poetry and memoir and then publish their best work. Writing coaches include Casey and Centennial Language Arts teachers. The week ends with celebration and performance, recitation and exhibition of everyone's finest work. Interested? Contact kathryn.singey@bvsd.org or val.wheeler@bvsd.org. Partial scholarships are available.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Did you ever pre-order school supplies for your student in elementary school? It’s easy. You order online, and the supplies arrive at school in August with your student's name right on the package. This year, the Casey PTA is going to give this system a try. The prices are less than you would pay in stores, and Casey PTA earns a percentage of sales. Click here for order information. Special treat: supply pick up is Monday, August 13.

SCHOOL FEES
It’s not too late to pay outstanding class/school fees. Fee information can be viewed in Infinite Campus under the “Fee Tab.” You can access IC by clicking here, and then pay your fees by going to Payforit.net or paying with a check or cash at the school office. Note: While all students will receive a yearbook this year, we now have almost 600 students and this becomes a huge expense. THANKS to those of you who have already paid for your student’s yearbook – and special thanks to those who paid a little extra to help cover other students’ yearbooks. Please contact Julie at 720-561-2704 or julie.mendez@bvsd.org if you have any questions.
