Centaurus is proud to host a Pre-Engineering Academy and an International Baccalaureate World School. Our population of just over 1000 students enjoy the rich academic, athletic, and extracurricular offerings Centaurus provides.

Although our student body is small, we are able to offer a plethora of courses, sports, and activities common to much larger schools.  Our students have been recipients of the Boettcher, the Bill & Melinda Gates Millennium, and our own CU-Boulder Engineering Academy Scholarships - among others.

 Support Centaurus Every Day

King Soopers Cards:

Every family has the ability to support CHS and all the fine academic departments, clubs, and athletic programs.

Purchase your re-loadable King Soopers pre-paid card for $5 CHS treasurer and you can designate 5% of your purchase to benefit ANY program at CHS (academic and/or athletic). It’s that easy! The great change to the program this year is that you only have to purchase your CHS re-loadable card once at CHS! You can re-load it at any time at any King Soopers!

Click HERE to download the order form. Fill out one of the forms and bring it in to the front office with payment and pick them up. Yep, that easy. Thank you for being a part of the Warrior family.

   Warriors Student Credit Union

Every family has the ability to support CHS PEN EVERYDAY and save money while doing so!

Boulder Valley Credit Union sponsors our Warriors Student Credit Union that is located in our school’s Student Center (Fish Bowl) and open during lunch. The student credit union was designed to help our students learn to manage their money and use credit responsibly BEFORE they graduate from high school. When you encourage your student(s) to join the Warrior Student Credit Union, the credit union will match up to $20 of their initial Savings deposit.

Beginning this school year, the credit union will make an annual donation to our PEN (Parent Engagement Network) based upon the savings and loan dollar volume from Centaurus High School students, families, and faculty. So when you and your family join, you’ll save on all your financial services…and CHS PEN will receive a donation of much needed money. It’s that simple. Ask about refinancing your auto, mortgage and credit card balances at our low financing rates….and that will also help the CHS PEN.

For more information, visit https://www.bvcu.org/youth/scu-warrior.shtml or contact the credit union office at 303-442-8850 for locations, more information, and to get your accounts started today. When you open your account, tell them you are with Centaurus High School.

Clarification - Expanded Learning

A misleading article was recently published in the Denver Post concerning Expanded Learning. In order to clarify Centaurus High School's involvement in this process, please read this note from Dr. Haniford:

We have agreed to participate in a one-year grant called the Time Collaborative.  We have ONLY agreed to explore ideas on how to engage students in an 8 hour academic/activity day.  Many of our students already participate in an 8 hour day and well beyond.  We are interested in exploring ideas on how to engage the students who are not participating in an 8 hour day.  A small committee of teachers, counselors, and administrators has formed to explore ideas.  Our first meeting is not until later this week, so we have not discussed any kinds of activities/classes yet.  The Denver Post states that the schools are going to expand their school day to 6:00 p.m. This is not true of Centaurus High School.  We are looking at how to engage students within the current school day so that they take full advantage of all classes and activities we offer.  We are open to adding additional classes and activities that students are interested in so that they are more engaged in school.  This is why we have agreed to explore ideas.  If at the end of this exploration, we decide that we do not want to move forward, we will pull out of the grant.  If as a school community we decide to implement an idea we like for our school, we have the support of the grant for two more years.

Thank you for seeking the facts.  I sincerely appreciate it!

Dr. Haniford's Message to Parents

 Dear Warrior Parents,
It’s hard to believe that we are already in April.  Second semester is moving quickly, and soon we will be preparing for end-of-course final exams and graduation.  Please continue to check Infinite Campus and talk with your student’s teachers about your student’s academic progress.
I am pleased to report that we have made significant progress on our goals!  Our freshmen and sophomore students have met and exceeded each of the Colorado State Testing Standards AND our junior students have once again outperformed the State ACT Composite score for the 3rd year in a row!
ACT:  All junior students will take the ACT on April 23rd at Centaurus High School.  The ACT is offered to all of our 11th grade students, free of charge, as a part of our school’s accreditation process.   ACT registrations will occur in Language Arts classes.  Students may decide to send their ACT score to universities of their choice.
Senior Meeting and Student Council Officer Elections: On April 24th, all seniors will participate in a mandatory senior meeting where the graduation schedule and responsibilities will be discussed.  Also, on April 24th, Student Council Officer Elections for next year’s 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students will occur.
Student Achievement:  Each year, more and more of our students continue to take advanced course work!  Educational research shows that when students take advanced classes they are better prepared for college and their career paths.  Thank you for encouraging your student to take a rigorous course selection all four years of high school.
Student enrollment in advanced coursework is increasing.
