Centaurus hosts a Pre-Engineering Academy and an International Baccalaureate World School. Located in Lafayette, CO, our population of just over 1000 students enjoy the rich academic, athletic, and extracurricular offerings Centaurus provides.  Although our student body is small, we are able to offer a plethora of courses, sports, and activities common to much larger schools.  Our students have been recipients of the Boettcher, the Bill & Melinda Gates Millenium, and our own CU-Boulder Engineering Academy Scholarships - among others.

Centaurus High School is an Engineering Focus School and an International Baccalaureate Focus School that provides an environment rich in academia. Our International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Placement (AP), AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), Pre-Engineering courses and exceptional extra-curricular programs ensure that each of our students is prepared for a competitive future. These programs provide students the most rigorous coursework in preparation for highly academic majors at the university level enabling students to compete nationally and internationally.

HELP OUR WARRIORS EVERY DAY!

Welcome back to yet another great school year at Centaurus High School.

Every family has the ability to support CHS and all the fine academic departments, clubs, and athletic programs.

Purchase your re-loadable King Soopers pre-paid card for $5 CHS treasurer and you can designate 3% of your purchase to benefit ANY program at CHS (academic and/or athletic).  It’s that easy!  The great change to the program this year is that you only have to purchase your CHS re-loadable card once at CHS!  You can re-load it at any time at any King Soopers!

Click HERE to download the order form.  Fill out one of the forms and bring it in to the front office with payment and pick them up.  Yep, that easy.  Thank you for being a part of the Warrior family.

 Message to Parents

Dear Warrior Parents,

Welcome to the 2011-2012 Centaurus Warrior school year!  With the support of the professional teachers and staff at Centaurus and the commitment of our parents and community, we are sure to continue the excellent education our students receive. 

We have much to celebrate at Centaurus High School! 

We are extremely proud of the achievements our students continue to make.

  • CSAP scores show tremendous academic growth gains in the 9th grade in reading, writing, and math, as well as in the 10th grade in math!  The Colorado Department of Education has ranked Centaurus High School in the top ranking of “Performance Plan” schools.  There are 4 plan assignments:  Performance, Improvement, Priority Improvement, and Turnaround.  Performance is the highest ranked plan, and it means that we were at or above 60% framework points earned.  Schools are assigned a plan based on their overall framework score, which is a percentage of the total points they earned out of the total points eligible in each performance indicator. 
  • Our ACT composite score jumped 1.8 points!  To help put this in perspective, a gain of 0.1 points is very difficult to achieve for a school, and we gained 1.8 points!  The state of Colorado’s composite ACT score is 19.9.  Centaurus High School composite ACT score is 21.4!
  • The Student School Climate Survey shows improved student perceptions of CHS!  Of the 57 survey questions, in the categories of Fitting In, Learning, Harassment, Adults at School, School Safety, and School Rules, 39 of those questions (68%) indicate an improved perception of Centaurus!
  • We are proud to announce that 18 of our CHS Diploma Candidates received the IB Diploma in July.   Those students attending universities in Colorado will receive 24 + college credits for the Diploma while students going out-of-state may earn the same or more!   This 90% pass rate is higher than the world average of 80%!! Bravo to the students’ hard work and to their teachers who guided them to the top!   We are also proud of our high scores in many IB classes with perfect scores of “7”achieved in Spanish HL, Physics HL, Math HL, Biology SL and Math Studies SL by several students!  These results certainly showcase one of the reasons many are deciding to take on the IB Diploma Programme.  Success!  These students also carry with them a deep knowledge in many areas of study. 

I am very proud of the hard work our students and staff continuously contribute.  We will continue to remain focused on our school’s three goals.  Increased attention to academic rigor and student support will remain a priority.  The complete goals are listed inside the newsletter.
