Newbery and Caldecott Winners, 2010
American Library Association announced the winners on Jan. 19, 2010.  The Caldecott (best picture book) Award was given to: The Lion & the Mouse, by Jerry Pinkney. The Newbery (best chapter book) Award was given to When You Reach Me, by Rebecca Stead.
  
The Invention of Hugo Cabret
Martin Scorcese has signed on to direct the upcoming movie of the Caldecott Award-winning book, The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick.  Stay tuned!

Library Expectations
All classes will be discussing Library Expectations this week.  In an effort to "go green," students are not receiving Library Card Applications to sign.  Instead, we are discussing the expectations on the application, and students are verbally agreeing to abide by them.  Additionally, they are encouraged to discuss these guidelines with their parents, by looking at the Library Card Applications posted on the Library Website.
 
Library Card Applications - Verbal Agreement
All classes are reviewing the expectations on the Student Library Card Application.  In an effort to "go green," students will not receive a copy to take home and sign.  Instead, they are verbally agreeing to abide by the guidelines listed on the application.  Additionally, they can discuss the library expectations with their parents, by viewing the Student Library Card Application on this website.
