Crest View’s Student Council meets monthly. Beginning in first grade, representatives are elected by their classmates or are selected by their teachers. These responsible, hard-working students are involved in a variety of activities throughout the school year.
Many of our projects focus on helping those in need in our local area. At least once each year we coordinate a school-wide collection of food for the Boulder Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA). In addition, we participate in the Boulder Rotary’s Share-A-Coat program and have organized fund-raising for the Boulder Homeless Shelter.
Our student council also works to make improvements to our school. We sponsor school grounds clean up days, support our art, library, and other special programs, and train our intermediate grade representatives in proper recycling procedures and in ways to assist our primary classrooms.
In addition to these serious projects, student council organizes fun school spirit days. On these days, students might have special time for free reading (a “read-in”), enjoy math games, come to school in pajamas, sport wacky hair styles, wear crazy socks, or dress up to look like a favorite book character.
