ReachOut Crest View
ReachOut Crest View (ROCV) is the Parent Teacher Organization for Crest View Elementary. ROCV is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization open to all members of the Crest View community. If you would like to be involved, please join us during the school year at our one-hour meetings typically held on the second Monday of the month. All ROCV meetings and event announcements and are listed in The Cougar (the school’s newsletter) and on the school website. Parents, teacher liaisons and the school principal, Ned Levine, attend ROCV meetings. No RSVP is required. Meeting minutes are posted on the school website.
ROCV Provides Support in the Following Areas:
Fund Raising:
Various teams plan and execute the major ROCV fundraising events throughout the school year. The money that is raised, in turn, supports ROCV-sponsored programs, including classroom grants, academic and creative arts programs, capital improvements, and scholarship needs. The major ROCV fundraisers are the annual Direct Appeal campaign, Payback Coupon Book Sale, Silent Auction, and New Book Fair. Each event has a dedicated chairperson(s) and event team.
Grant Review & Allocation:
Each year ROCV allocates over $80,000 in grants, programs and expenses. Funds raised by ROCV are distributed to teachers, staff, the Crest View School Improvement Team (SIT) and to ROCV committees for the purpose of curriculum and community enrichment. These groups solicit funds from ROCV via grant requests, which the Grant Review Committee evaluates and approves based on budget and funding criteria.
Community Events:
ROCV sponsors a variety of community events for Crest View students, staff, and their families. Some of these include our Back-to-School Picnic, Sock Hop, Spring Fiesta Dinner, and Talent Show. These events promote and celebrate our school community.
Creative Arts:
ROCV sponsors many educational enrichment programs chosen by teachers throughout the year to complement and extend the Crest View curriculum. These events feature guest authors, artists, or performers. Programs are usually held during the school day in an assembly or grade-level format.
Community Services:
ROCV offers or supports several services to the school community including the Used Book Fair, Yearbook, School Supplies, School Photos, School Directory, Staff Appreciation Lunches, Purple Crocodile and the Freiker Bike Program.
Community Outreach:
ROCV works in partnership with Crest View family resource specialists to provide scholarships to students and families in need. Scholarship funds may cover fields trips, school supplies, the annual Giving Snowman, community events, and funding for additional programs such as the Homework Club.
Grant Writing:
Although most of the funds raised by ROCV come from the major fundraisers, occasionally there are opportunities to apply for grants from outside sources. The Grant Writing team researches these sources and then writes and submits grant applications as appropriate.
Habitat and School Grounds:
The wetlands area directly west of the Crest View property meets many important needs for our students and families. A volunteer team is responsible for the stewardship of this precious resource as well as for organizing seasonal maintenance of the Crest View gardens and grounds and advocating for playground and grounds improvements.
