Teaching Experience
My first job as an instructor was teaching for the University of Alaska, helping servicemen acquire their GED. During the two years my family lived in Misawa, Japan, I was an English as a Second Language teacher. While stationed in Fairfax, Virginia, I was a Special Education teacher in grades 1-4. After moving to Colorado, and completing one year of long term substitute teaching assignments, I accepted a position at Broomfield High School in the Special Education Department.
My real love is teaching elementary school children. I have been on the faculty at Crest View for the past 20 years. During the first five years, I was a Special Education Resource teacher in grades 2, 4, 5 and 6. For the past 15 years, I have been a 5th grade teacher.
I am very lucky to be in a profession that is so rewarding every day. I believe that I learn right along with my students and we all grow and change as the school year progresses. Grant writing has been an area of interest of mine and I have received over 60 grants. With this funding, the students have been introduced to additional language arts materials, interesting guest speakers, extra field trips and additional science equipment.
I have received the Superintendant's Honor Award, been nominated for the Amgen Teacher Award, and have served on the Teacher Advisory Board of the Biological Science Initiative for the University of Colorado.I will continue to be part of the National Science Foundation teacher science assesment team in our district.  I have been a new teacher mentor, a presenter several times at the Colorado Reading Association annual state convention and currently mentor National Board teacher candidates for the school district. My experience working on the Social Studies Curriculum Council for a number of years was rewarding. I thoroughly enjoy mentoring University Practicum candidates,CU Teach interns, and student teachers each year to enhance my 5th grade students' learning experience.
You are welcome to vist our classroom anytime.

Personal Note
I was born and raised in Haddonfield, New Jersey. Every year my students love to tease me about how I pronounce, "water," "daughter," and "quarter." At the end of the school year, all my 5th graders have learned how to say these words with a New Jersey accent.
I've been fortunate to live and travel in some interesting parts of our country and overseas. After my son, Eric, was born in Lawrence, Kansas, we moved to Adak, Alaska where eagles sat on every telephone pole. During the summer of 1975, my family moved to Winter Harbor, Maine, where my daughter, Wendy, was born to the sound of the harbor's fog horn. Japan was the highlight of our Navy tours with Fairfax, Virginia completing this saga. Boulder, Colorado has been my current home since 1988. I am a proud grandmother of 5: Shannah, Isy, Eryn, Bobby and Madeleine.
