Teaching Experience

Prior to 1997, I participated in many academic areas including working as a paraeducator, developing and implementing an early Literacy Program, and working as a Talented and Gifted teacher. In addition, I substitute taught in Boulder and Jefferson County schools, I observed and worked in many Denver area private and inner-city public schools, and published an article in the education magazine, "Interventions in School and Clinic" titled Modeling Respect in the Classroom.

Since January, 1997, I have taught at Crest View Elementary in the Significantly Identifiable Emotional Disabilities (SIED) Program for intensive needs. This is one of 4 district programs available to students throughout the district who qualify for these intensive services. My team and I strive to help students with emotional challenges to become positive family and community members and academic learners. One of my other duties at Crest View is to co-chair the Conflict Resolution Committee. This committee is responsible for the many programs that support diversity, conflict mediation, anti-bullying, and the Peaceful Homes/Peaceful Schools campaign.
