Principal's Message

Dear Emerald Community,

Thank you for visiting our website.  Emerald Elementary is a neighborhood school in Broomfield, serving students from pre-school through 5th grade and their families. We are tucked back in a neighborhood just north of 120th Street and Highway 36. Emerald has been an integral part of the Broomfield community for over 50 years!  Many of our parents and grandparents were once Emerald students themselves.  There is something special and magical about Emerald that brings families back here every year.

Emerald is a school that has a diverse population.  Currently, Emerald serves families and students who speak sixteen different languages.  We are proud to provide direct instruction for children learning English as their second language through our English Language Development program which is staffed by two specialists.  Additionally, Emerald has a very experienced, skilled, knowledgeable teaching staff. We provide explicit instruction that is engaging and customized to meet the individual needs of each student.  Our staff also uses a Professional Learning Community model of collaboration to ensure that we work together so that every Emerald student meets his or her full potential.  Emerald has implemented a comprehensive Positive Behavior Support program that keeps everyone in the school on track for maximized learning.  We use the acronym “F.I.R.E.”  which stands for “focus, integrity, respect, and empathy” to ensure that our school is a calm, safe learning environment.

Parent and family involvement is also a highlight of Emerald.  Each year the school community comes together for amazing community events including the Dragon Dash Fun Run, Fall Festival, Broomfield Days, and the Spring Carnival.  Additionally, Emerald was recently awarded the 21st Century Learning Grant that funds a comprehensive after school academic enrichment program.  Students at Emerald are lucky to have high quality, engaging, fun after school learning activities.  In general, the very best thing about Emerald Elementary is the warm, welcoming, cheerful feeling that you get every time you come through the doors.   Go Emerald Dragons!

Best regards,
