Dear Emerald Families:

Welcome to another fabulous school year at Emerald.  We wanted to introduce the PTO and give some info about what we do and encourage you to get involved in supporting the great things that happen here at Emerald!

W hat is PTO?  The PTO is our Parent-Teacher-Organization.  We are a group of volunteers that help to fundraise to support all Emerald teachers and programs. We also organize and put on events such as the Fall Festival and the Spring Carnival, and collaborate with Emerald’s teachers and leadership to create programs that enrich our students’ education.

What has PTO done for my student lately?  What do my $ go to?  Just a small sampling of what the PTO did last year:  purchased beads for the FIRE program; provided funds for teachers to purchase special materials to enrich learning; put on the Fall Festival and the Spring Carnival; purchased the jump house for events; supported teachers by providing fun teacher-appreciation items throughout the year…and much more!

Do I need to know a lot about Emerald to get involved?  NO!  All new parents or family members and any returning parents and family members are welcome to get involved.

Do I have to commit to participating all year long?  NO!  Come check out a meeting—you can sign up to help with one event or all events.

What family members can be involved?  ANY!  ALL!  Fathers, mothers, grandparents, guardians… can actively participate in PTO events and meetings!

What does PTO need from me?  We would love to build a stronger base of parent volunteers so that we can provide more support for teachers and programs that we love at Emerald.  Not just for the fun social events, but for providing much needed materials in all the classrooms.  An easy way to give to PTO is to pay dues at the beginning of the year.  Please send in the enclosed envelope with any donation amount you can give.

Please consider coming to a meeting to find out what PTO is about.  Our first meeting will be a social meet & greet meeting on Tuesday, September 13 at 6 p.m. at Bumpers Restaurant, on Nickel St (behind Target).  Children are welcome!  We also welcome you, any time throughout the year.  We will continue to meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Bumpers.  Please look for more information on our bulletin board, on the announcement board in the front entry and on our website.  Or feel free to call us with any questions or suggestions you might have.
