2015 Flatirons Chess Club SignUp
Chess Club meets on Mondays from 3:00 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. in the library, computer lab and literacy book room. 1st through 5th grade - all levels welcome! Chess Club is limited to the first paid 45 students.
The game of chess dates back to 600 A.D. Today, chess is one of the world's most popular games, played by millions. Now is the time to introduce your child to this old and popular game with many academic benefits!
There will be three coaches: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. There are 10 sessions from November 30, 2015 - March 7, 2016. The sessions consist of a 20 minute lecture and 55 minutes of play. Coaches and Club organizers, Josh Shoenfeld, Maureen McKenzie and Kale Inoue will head up the club sessions with parent volunteers. Parents are required to volunteer for at least 1 session. You do not need to know how to play chess to be a volunteer, but must be able to support children in paying attention and encourage them in playing chess.
