Intramurals
Intramurals is an after school sports program open to all fourth and fifth grade Heatherwood students. The program expands the fourth and fifth grade physical education curriculum to provide students, who so choose, an opportunity for further skill application in a more competitive setting. This is a time for students to appreciate their personal skill level as they learn more about blending with the diverse skill levels of their peers in a competitive game situation.
Intramurals is offered throughout the school year on Wednesdays and Thursdays after school from 2:35 to 3:45 p.m. Students need to arrange their own transportation home and should be picked up no later than 3:45 p.m. These arrangements need to be made prior to game day as phone calls for this purpose are highly discouraged.
Programs may include Flag Football, Floor Hockey, 3v3 Basketball, Indoor Soccer, Gymnastics and Ultimate Frisbee.
Teams compete against each other during the regular season. A point system for wins, ties and losses determines the game schedules for the play-offs, which all teams participate in. The play-offs are single elimination. All players will receive certificates of participation. Players are expected to be at all games unless they are absent from school, have a prior scheduled appointment or talked with Beth Cendali
and their team captain about why they would need to miss a game. However, during the playoffs everyone is expected to be at their games unless absent from school.
The charge is $2 per intramural sport, per participant. This must be paid to Beth Cendali when a player signs up.
Sign-ups must be done by the student during P.E. class time. Sign-ups begin two weeks prior to the start of a program. Once teams have been made, no new players will be added. Game schedules will be given to each student during P.E. class time. A schedule is also posted on the gym bulletin board.
