Academic/Curriculum Standards
The Horizons program is based on the best practices identified by educational research. The curriculum is structured so students will meet or exceed content standards adopted by the Colorado Department of Education and the New Standards Project. These standards are written to address the development of skills in reading, writing, mathematics, technology, science, and social studies. Curricular themes, developed by the faculty, are correlated to the above standards as well as BVSD curriculum, and guide the development of school-wide and homeroom learning activities for each school year.

Yearly Curricular Emphasis
The faculty at Horizons has developed a three-year curriculum cycle in science and social studies for grades K - 8.
