Game Club ?

A fun and social club that is open to all 6th and 7th grade students, Game Club’s premise is to allow students to play board games, including chess, during Friday lunch time. There is no set member list or registration, but simply whoever wishes to participate. Students bring their lunches to a table set-up in the school’s lobby, sign-out a board game of their choice from a selection in the main office, and enjoy themselves -- either solo or with others -- during Friday lunch times. The rules are very simple: The student who signs out each game is responsible for its condition, including safe and complete return.

Students plant, weed, prune, fertilize, learn about the flora of Louisville’s climate and enjoy a club with other students who have this similar interest. In past years, students have planted two apple trees, two peach trees, 2 cherry trees, and two plum trees at Monarch K-8. (In the fall, we eat the plums from the trees and share hundreds of extras with students and staff! In the coming years, we hope to be consuming apples, peaches and cherries as the trees mature.
