Welcome to Mrs. Adams’ Kindergarten!!

I couldn’t say it any better than that! In our classroom we celebrate all of us as individuals, as well as the strength and success of all of us as a group. Waldo the wolf is our classroom mascot who reminds us all to work together, play together, take care of one another and love one another.”.” Pokey the snail teaches us all to learn at our own pace and to slow down and take our time to do our work. Kalvin the Kangaroo is just with us to have fun! 

Our Kindergarten is a wonderful mix of required curriculum and standards using such programs as Investigations Math, Making Meaning, and Zaner-Blozer Handwriting , along with many themes and units of study unique to our school.  These include our amazing study of the wild west and celebration of Rodeo Day, storybook journeys and author studies, and the now famous Presidents unit!  

Classroom instruction is a combination of large whole group and smaller groups during our weekly center rotations which incorporate both the letter of the week and theme topics. Children add weekly entries into their writing portfolios and become confident readers through weekly poetry exercises and small reading groups. We are proud to have our own Leveled Bookroom here at Monarch where we have hundreds of books for all age and levels of readers available to us. Math and science are part of everyday calendar exercises, with continuous hands on experimentation and exploration using a wide range of tools and materials. Hatching chicks is always a highlight in the spring.! 

With Mrs. Z as our fulltime para-educator and our caring and enthusiastic army of parent volunteers (no one is turned away!) the classroom is filled with joy and learning each day. We want everyone to be a part of this most exciting time in our children’s lives. Beyond when a child learns the “three R’s”~ when a child feels good about themselves as a confident learner and valued person, they are ready to conquer the world!!

Assessment Days will take place August 15th and 16th in the Kindergarten classroom. Parents have signed up their child for their 30 minute session. Entrance through Kindergarten playground and we will pick up your child from their!
