Welcome to the Website of Megen Stadele!!!

Hola, I'm Megen Stadele.  Here's some information about me and about my teaching expectations .

Subject/grade  I teach ESL/Literacy at the Elementary level and I teach ESL/Literacy and Spanish at the ML/HS level at NMSHS

Bio
I grew up over-seas.  I lived in Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico and South Africa.  My father was a General Motors car executive.  I returned in college to attend Albion College in Michigan, majoring in Psychology and Spanish, magna cum laude.  I then started accumulating teaching credits and received my Elementary Education teaching credential from University of Colorado at boulder.  After teaching in Bilingual Education, Kindergarten and first grade and Chapter Once, I completed my M.A. in Bilingual Education from C.U. Boulder.  Later I received my Reading endorsement, courses again taken at C.U. Boulder. I have taught in many of the bilingual schools in Boulder .   I have taught in Nederland over the past 10 years, at ESL/Literacy, some electives and now ML Spanish.

Grading
I grade on the current Boulder Valley Standards based grading.  Taking into account standards and BVSD curriculum.  Ten percent of the grade is based on participation, behavior, being prepared in class etc.   Fifty percent of grades are in the formative area.  This is basically concepts in progress and being practiced and learned and Forty percent goes to sumative.  Sumative being work completed, concepts that should be known and proof of this in tests and cumulative projects.  I am very generous and forgiving with my grading.  I always allow for study and re-take time.  I believe that a C is a warning and that D's and F's do not promote student learning and confidence.

I teach Spanish and 2 Reading workshop classes for students needing support in Reading as found evidential through several measures, QRI, CSAP scores, classroom performance, individual observation of Reading abilities, The Grade and the DRA2.

Office Hours    I am available 5th period and after school.  You may reach me at 303-258-3212
