 Spotlight!

Check out the Spotlight! section for exciting news at our school!

Congratulations to Cai Cramer, who won first place in the PBS StoryMakers contest this year! She was selected out of thousands of other Colorado, schoolaged applicants for her ability to compose a charming, creative short story. Look for an animated version of her story (created by Cai) to appear on the PBS website soon.

*Congratulations to Zach Klaus, sixth grade Platt student, for writing the second place winning essay in the Daughters of the Revolution American history writing contest.  You can see the list of winners here.

PEP assembly at PlattNew
Platt and CHOICE students will be on a special schedule this Friday in order to attend a PEP assembly from 3:10-3:40.  And don't forget it's "We've got the CRAZIES!" day - so be sure to wear something wild, but don't forget to follow these guidlines:

1.     Dress must be appropriate for wear, follow the school dress code, and fit the theme of the spirit day.  Crazy shoes are allowed only if they have a hard sole and can be worn outside.  Hats are allowed in classes that normally permit them.

2.     All of the crazy ideas need not be disruptive to the learning environment.  Have fun, but be respectful and appropriate with everyone.

3.     Any hairspray or other make-up must be
done at home BEFORE school
.

IS Wrestling and Girls Volleyball PhotosNew
The IS Wrestling team and 8th grade Girls Volleyball teams will have their team and individual photos taken on Tuesday, 2/14 during practice after school.  Order forms were handed out this week - see the Coaches if you need another one!

Important Volunteer Info!
There are three steps to becoming a volunteer at Platt Middle School:
1. Complete background check at www.tclogiq.com/bvsdv  - This is now a BVSD requirement.  If you are not driving, you do NOT need a motor vehicles check.  Additionally, there is NOT a membership ID.
2.  Fill out the Volunteer Agreement form and return to the office.
3.  If you are driving, please fill out the Student Transportation in Private Vehicles form.  Return this to the office with a copy of your driver's license and proof of insurance coverage that shows dollar amounts.
*If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact Sara Stotts in the office @ 720-561-6862 or sara.stotts@bvsd.org*

YMCA Waiver Forms
All students who attend the YMCA Wednesday morning programs at Platt must have a waiver on file.  Please fill out the form completely and turn in to the office as soon as possible.
