Welcome to TAG Math!

TAG Math "pull-out" classes were created for our TAG (talented and gifted) students.  Classes will meet during intervention time twice a week from Sept 2011 until mid-May 2012. 

3rd grade:  Tue/Wed   8:15 - 9:00  
4th grade:  Tue/Wed   10:40 - 11:25
5th grade:  Tue/Wed   12:50 - 1:30

Mrs. Carpenter will also "push-in" to regular grade level classes, usually during math time, to work with high ability students.

​​5/9   Starter:  Kelly made two purchases.  She gave one cashier $20 for a compact disc and received $6 change.  Then she gave another cashier $15 for a bracelet and received $3 change.  After these purchases she had $28.  How many dollars did she have before buying the compact disc and the bracelet? 

Lesson:  intro to percents 


5/15   Starter:  I have four 3¢ stamps and three 5¢ stamps.  Using one or more of these stamps, how many different amounts of postage can I make?

5/15 Starter: 1) A jar contains a large number of pennies. The pennies can be divided into equal shares among 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 children with no pennies left over each time. What is the least number of pennies the jar could hold? 2) A total of 350 pounds of cheese is packaged into boxes each containing 1 ¾ pounds of cheese. Each box is then sold for $1.75. What is the total selling price of all the boxes of cheese?
