Sports at Summit
Summit offers Intramural and Interscholastic Sports. A current sports physical (within a calendar year of the sport season dates) is required to participate in Interscholastic Sports. (Intramural Sports do not require this.) A list of immunizations is NOT a sports physical. Your doctor's office should provide a form stating that your student is clear to participate in sports which is signed by a doctor and dated. Please note that some doctors' office forms state that the physical is good for two years, but BVSD requires a yearly sports physical. Both interscholastic and intramural sports require an athletic packet from each student with parent/guardian signatures on the relevant forms.
Middle School Interscholastic Athletic Packet 2012-2013 (please only use this one if your child has already done a sport at Summit this year)
Maximum sports fees per student per year paid to Summit Middle School - $225, per family - $405 (please note: fees subject to revision per BVSD updates). Payment is due at the beginning of each sport’s season and must be received for a student to participate in practice. Financial help or scholarships are available.
A note about family caps for athletics fees: fees paid at other BVSD schools don’t count toward the Summit cap because, as a charter school, we must fund our own athletics program.
In addition, Summit students are required to be in good academic standing in all classes (no grade lower than a ‘C’) and must attend school all day on the day of an athletic event or any extracurricular activity, in order to participate in that event. A Summit student who is not in good academic standing or who is absent from school on the day of the activity (regardless of the reason) may not participate.
We encourage students to participate in our sports program. Team sports help build friendships, school spirit and lifelong exercise habits. As mentioned above, we offer scholarships for students so everyone can join the fun.
