 Musical Theater

Welcome to Summit Middle School drama class!  The tradition at Summit is to alternate producing a full-length musical every other year, and a full-length straight play on the off year.  Because it is so difficult to cast a whole class into a play with no chorus parts, I elected, instead, to offer a drama survey class.

Each student will have the opportunity to perform daily, using pantomime, reader's theatre, classic scenes, musical theatre songs and scenes, improvistation, and  self-composed skits and scenes.  We will also work on audition preparation and where to find good audition material.

For more information, please read this year's syllaubus.

Many thanks to Carol Bradley for organizing our field trip to Fairview to see their production of All Shook Up.  I know the show inspired many of Summit's  young actors and singers!

 Silver Rain

Silver Rain is off to a wonderful start; there are lovely sounds emanating from portable E! We are working on creating a unified, mature, artistic sound within the context of quality high-school-level choral literature.  I encourage all students to strive to add more levels of technique and artistry every day:  better breath support, blend, dynamics, expression, communication of text, intonation, phrasing...the "good stuff."

On Tuesday, August 23, students received a syllabus containing important information and dates for the coming year.  Please review the information with your student and sign the last page stating that you have read and understand the information, and most importantly that concert dates are on the calendar.  I need the bottom portion of the form returned to my by Monday, August 29.  You can find the same information on the online document "Summit Expectations for Choir Students."

For more information about this year in silver Rain, check out the documents "Silver Rain Syllabus" and "Summit Expectations for Choir Students."

Any choir student can benefit greatly from private voice lessons.  If you need a referral, please look at my list of contacts .
