Uni Hill Programs

What are some of Uni Hill’s in-school programs/offerings?

Rainbow Press, our award-winning in-school publishing house, allows students to write, edit, illustrate, layout, and bind their own stories in English or Spanish.

Outdoor Education combines community building and education through overnight trips for grades 4 and 5. All students experience outdoor education through day field trips and/or visiting speakers.

Visiting Programs, such as the Imagination Makers, enrich all students. Imagination Makers is a drama group that performs plays written by students, including those by University Hill students.
Student Council members are elected by their classmates and provide leadership, mentoring and spirit-building activities.

Peace Makers is a program that honors students for exemplifying our three goals for good behavior: be responsible, be safe and seek wise people.

Peer Mediators, students trained in mediation techniques, help fellow students work through disagreements and minor conflicts while teaching them conflict resolution skills.

Reading to End Racism brings community members to the school to read and discuss social justice.

Run for the Arts raises money for art, music and physical education classes. Students raise the money by running laps outdoors.

What extracurricular opportunities are available to Uni Hill students?

Ballet Folklórico: All students are invited to learn and perform Mexican dances in traditional costumes.

Circus Club: Students in grades 3-5 can learn to juggle, spin plates, hula hoop, walk on stilts, ride unicycles, and more.

Mexico Exchange Programs: Students from Oaxaca and teachers from Mante (a Boulder sister city) stay with University Hill families and visit classrooms to take back ideas for improving educational experiences. Some of our students and teachers likewise visit schools in Mexico.

Grade-level Extracurricular Sports Teams bring the community together for practices and games.

FRS Enrichment Classes: Family Resource Schools offers a variety of after-school weekly classes. Transportation and scholarships are available.

YMCA Childcare: The YMCA provides on-site, fee-based childcare before and after school and on most school holidays.
