Message from Holly Saltz, TAG

September 2005
Dear Parents,
I would like to introduce myself as the new TAG Education Advisor at Ryan
Elementary. This year is going to be an exciting year for TAG students with many
program available to fit their group and individual needs. Following are just
some of the opportunities your student can look forward to in the coming year.
TAG Math Classes
Junior Great Books
Geography Bee
Spelling Bee
Science Fair
Destination Imagination
Ryan School Newspaper NEW!
TAG Lunch Bunch NEW!
CU Science Explorers
TAG Science NEW!
and much more
I am thrilled to be working at Ryan with such a wonderful and talented staff.
After 10 years out of the field I am happy to be back in education working in a
school where I can help teachers enhance their existing programs to fit the
needs of TAG students. Prior to moving to Colorado I was a high school English
and journalism teacher at Point Loma High School in San Diego, CA. Prior to that
I spent a year in Japan teaching English to Japanese students.
Along with my other responsibilities I am looking forward to using my teaching
skills to create a Ryan Elementary School newspaper this year. This after school
program will allow students to learn interviewing skills and techniques; enhance
their writing skills; and, work on the layout and design of a newspaper. Janet
Stellema, the new Math and Science Specialist, will be helping to create new
science opportunities and special events for the TAG program. I will send out
more detailed information on all of these new programs soon.
I look forward to meeting all of you and working on your students Personalized
Learning Plan (PLP) for this school year. As soon as I know the teacher
availability for conferences I will call you for a PLP meeting. Please stop by
the TAG office at Back to School Night on Thursday, September 1. I would love to
meet both you and your student. Its going to be a great year!
Sincerely,
Holly Saltz
