As part of the 5^th grade Conflict unit, the 5^th graders will be studying the Civil War era, the ante bellum period and the aftermath of the war. Students will take on the identity of a soldier who fought in the war. Along with learning about the time, period they will portray this character and fill in the details of life at that historical time. Information will be provided for students through books, videos, lectures and guest speakers. With this information, the student will recreate the life of their soldier through writing and role playing activities.
