Years at Ryan and grade levels taught: This is my fifth year at Ryan,
four of which I have been a literacy teacher. During my first year here, I
taught 1st grade.
Years as an educator in other schools and assignments: I have been
teaching for 12 years in the Boulder Valley School District. My other
assignments have included teaching first grade at Aurora 7 in Boulder,
teaching a 1st/2nd grade class at Emerald in Broomfield, and one year as a
substitute teacher.
University/colleges attended and degrees conferred: I received my
bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder,
and my teaching certification from the CU School of Education. I am currently
working on a master’s degree in Elementary Education with a focus on Reading
and Literacy from Walden University.
Personal Teaching Philosophy: My goal is to help students develop
a sense of self-worth, confidence and belief in their ability to succeed. I
hope to teach students how to be resilient and face challenges with
determination. Ultimately, my mission is to guide students on the path to
being the best that they can be, while developing a love for reading and
learning that will continue beyond the walls of the classroom.
Hobbies and Interests: Not surprisingly, I love books and reading. I
also enjoy playing softball and tennis, camping, hiking, and gardening. When
life gets hectic, my husband, two dogs, and two cats help me keep a sense of
humor!
