Carolyn Mundt
- Fifth Grade Teacher
Voice mail number: 244
Email address: carolyn.mundt@bvsd.org
Years at Ryan and grade levels taught: I have
been at Ryan for many years. The first 4 years I was a parent volunteer because
my daughters both attended Ryan. I have been a first grade teacher, a second
grade teacher, a literacy
teacher, and now I teach the fifth grade. I also ran the Reading
Partners program and one summer I was the acting principal of the Ryan Jump
Start program. I am currently the Math Leader for our building.
Years as an educator in other schools and assignments: Prior to coming to
Ryan, I taught 6th grade for two years in Amsterdam, New York.
University/colleges attended and degrees conferred: I received my
bachelor’s degree at Oneonta State College in Oneonta, New York. I received my
master’s degree in Reading and Literacy at Walden University. I am now pursuing
my principal’s licensure at the University of Phoenix. I plan to finish my
program in 2008.
Personal Teaching Philosophy: I believe in a discovery-based
learning approach where all students have an equal opportunity to learn. I want
the students in my classroom to have fun while understanding that learning and
being a member of a classroom and school community carries certain
responsibilities. It is important to me that lessons are differentiated so that
each student learns at his/her level and can grow, learn, and be successful.
Hobbies, interests, personal info: I am a certified book-a-holic. I love
to read and collect books. If you have a chance to visit my classroom you will
see books everywhere! My home is the same. I also love to garden and spend time
with my family. I have two incredible daughters, one is a freshman at CSU and
another who attends Centaurus. I also have a wonderful husband.
