I had many different duties working with second language learners. In addition, I also spent a couple of years in the Adams 12 School District working with K-5 second language learners and helping them to increase their literacy and language skills. Experience at what grade levels: For the last two years, I was a second grade teacher in Thornton, Adams 12 School District. Schools/colleges attended: I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in education, with an ESL endorsement from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Personal Teaching Philosophy: I feel that everyone is special and talented in their own ways. Every student brings a richness that adds to the classroom and school. For optimal learning, children need to have a safe environment where are accepted and welcomed. I love teaching, but moreover, I learn a lot from my students. A goal for the year: I am looking forward to getting to know the students, staff, parents and community members of Ryan Elementary School. An interesting tidbit that you want to share: When I’m not teaching, I like to spend time with my husband and three children. We like to get together with our extended family and enjoy authentic Hmong food.
