Ron Arguello

Years at Ryan and grade levels taught: Since 2006. I am very excited to be joining the Ryan family as one of the fourth grade teachers.

Years as an educator in other schools and assignments: For the past 6 years I have taught fourth grade at Lafayette Elementary. Prior to joining BVSD, I taught high school math for 2 years at a Catholic High School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and middle school math and science for 3 years in Lawrence, Kansas. However, the majority of my teaching has been spent teaching fourth, fifth and sixth graders. I taught at schools in Longmont (2 years) and Colorado Springs (6 years), Miami, Florida (6 years), and Lawrence, Kansas (4 years).

University/colleges attended and degrees conferred:

B.S. – Elementary Education – University of Colorado at Boulder, 1975.

M.A. – Elementary Education - Administration and Supervision – University of Colorado at Boulder, 1977.

Personal Teaching Philosophy: I believe in teaching students at their individual ability level using differentiation, whole class, group, and peer teaching methods to meet each student’s individual needs. I believe it is important for the teachers to work as teams. I enjoy mentoring and sharing my experience and skills with others. Similarly, I appreciate when others share their experience and ideas about new ways of teaching the students.

Hobbies, interests, personal info: I have four children, ages 21, 16, 11 and 9. My wife is a lawyer who works for the University of Colorado in Boulder. I enjoy gardening, golfing with my oldest son, and retreating to our family cabin in Westcliffe where there is no television or computer or telephone, so we are able to spend quality time as a family.
