What is the “Investigations" program?

       During the summer of 2005 all of Ryan’s classroom teachers and other mathematics instructors at the school reaped the benefit of an in-depth, multi-day training session on the “Investigations” K-5 mathematics curriculum, teaching “the math behind the math.” 

       The “Investigations” program offers students meaningful mathematical problems that emphasize depth in thinking in accordance to best practice research.  Students learn to communicate mathematics content which in turn substantially expands mathematical literacy.

       The staff at Ryan are dedicated to ensuring that students are not only proficient in mathematical computation, but understand mathematical concepts and operations, are able to apply math by formulating problem-solving strategies, can use logic to reason, explain and justify
