Dear Families,

Welcome back to school! Over the summer a number of exciting things have happened
here at Ryan Math and Science Focus School. First of all, our new PTA board has been busy setting goals and priorities. They are excited about making a difference for the students here at Ryan. I encourage you to get involved with the PTA, as well as being a volunteer in your child’s classroom.
 

There are multiple ways to be involved. Check out the Ryan web site and read the Ryan Reader for details. Classroom newsletters are also informative about ways to make a positive difference for our learning community.
 

Our cafeteria received a brand new floor over the summer months. Not only does it look great, but it will be easier to maintain for our custodians. We are anticipating new steps near our parent parking lot any day, so watch for those.
 

We welcomed several new teachers and have reasonable class sizes again this year across the board. Please join me in welcoming Brie Larsen in second grade, Ron Arguello in fourth grade,  Dani Rudkin is our school psychologist, Helen Trajtenberg is our new art teacher, and Jo-Lynn Yoshihara-Daly is our social worker. They come to Ryan with great credentials and join our staff to make Ryan and even better place to learn.

The PTA is supporting our Outdoor Adventure program again this year. They are paying
for one half the cost of a full day program for our first through fifth grade students that begins on September 19th. Look for the permission slips and the request for $10.00 in today’s Friday Folder materials for this exciting learning opportunity.
 

As I begin my 17th year here at Ryan, it is with the anticipation for learning and the fun and excitement that goes along with learning that I frame my remarks. The staff, parents and students are very special to me. I cherish a job that I enjoy each and every day. I always look forward to opening the school door in the morning. Join me and our staff in making this another great year for learning.
