Ryan
Elementary Math and Science Focus School is characterized by our zeal for
educating children. We are extremely dedicated to making each day a powerful
learning experience for all children. Our focus is on the needs of the students.
Our school is respected in the community for the professionalism and dedication
of the staff. Ryan Elementary uses the exemplary
Boulder Valley School District's curriculum and standards as our guide for
student learning. We integrate the sciences and mathematics throughout the
curriculum each week. We have a
math and science
specialist who works with teachers and students to enhance and extend our
curriculum and services for children. Teachers at the school diagnose student
needs and personalize instruction based on this diagnosis. Students are taught
at their maximum instructional level each day.
Class sizes at Ryan average 18:1 in kindergarten through second grade, and 25:1
in third through fifth grade. Special programs are available in all grades and
include talented and gifted programs, special
education and English as a Second Language instruction. The school sponsors a
science expo and science fair each year. Please see our
web page for details about school
programs.
Parents are a vital part of our school program and are included in decision
making via the School Improvement Team
and the Parent Teacher Association. Parents are
also encouraged to assist our school by volunteering in classrooms, at home and
on learning trips. Parents consistently rate Ryan an excellent place for student
learning, an extremely safe place for students, and a place where teachers care
about students.
