TEAMS Update October 2005

Engineering Exclamations

TEAMS is back!! TEAMS stands for Technology and Engineering to Advance Math and Science. It is the result of a partnership between the University of Colorado and the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) to use engineering activities to advance and enhance our math and science curriculum. This year in tandem with the new Science and Math focus at Ryan, students and teachers will explore engineering in everyday life with CU College of Engineering faculty and students (TEAMS Fellows). Through hands-on engineering experiences, students will come to understand the role that engineers can play in meeting the needs and dreams of society, draw connections to meaningful applications of math and science, and become motivated to create a brighter future through engineering and technology. The TEAMS Fellow Jay Shah is in all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade science classes presenting engineering activities that show students exciting applications of the math and science curriculum. In addition, Fellow Hilary Kushnir is presenting an afterschool TEAMS program for more hands-on engineering. Ask your student about the fun of being an engineer!
