I have been teaching at Superior Elementary School since 1999. Before teaching full time, I was a student teacher at Superior in 3rd grade with Master teacher, Sue Brighton. Then, I decided to substitute teach for a year, learning the best techniques from all those around me.
Born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii on the island of Oahu, I attended the prestigious Punahou School for 13 years, a school started in 1841 for the children of the missionaries who traveled to Hawaii. After high school graduation, I moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado. I played soccer on the club soccer team there for 4 years, before being part of the inaugural Division 1 team. I majored in French and also graduated with an Elementary Teaching license. I currently live in Erie and have 2 yellow labs named Kea and Kai. I enjoy taking hikes and walks with them and still continue to play soccer, both indoor and outdoor. Other interests include photography and making scrapbooks. I especially love teaching Social Studies. It is fun to see history come alive and become so memorable for 2nd graders. Some of my favorite units include the US Constitution, the Civil War, the Civil Rights Movement, and Immigration.
