Author/Illustrator Studies

Each month our class will study a children's literature author or illustrator. We will compare the similarities and contrast the differences between the various books by each author. We will look at the genre, style, voice, characters, themes, and illustrations of each writer. We will study each author's biography, learning things about his/her personal life and background. Some of the many questions we will try to answer include, but not limited to:

• when and where was the author born?
• what did he/she like to do in school?
• does he/she have any children?
• where does he/she get the ideas for the books?
• how many books has this author written?
• what is the longest time it took to write a book?
• what do the books have in common?
